Between Monday, September 14, 2026, and Friday, September 18, 2026, the City of Thibodaux’s Public Works Department will be conducting a smoke test on the sewer lines in the following areas: Young Place, People Street, Susan Street, Ridgefield Road, General Nicholls Avenue, Henderson Street, Lawrence Avenue, Bradford Street, Washington Avenue, and Josephine Avenue. The smoke test will run in the morning. The smoke that will be coming out of the sewer lines will have a cherry fragrance that can potentially go into homes and is safe as well as non-toxic. City of Thibodaux Public Works employees will be walking around homes looking for possible leaks. If you have any questions, please contact the Public Works Department at 985-446-7223.

In observance of Labor Day, City of Thibodaux offices will close on Monday, September 7, 2026. The Warren J. Harang Jr. Municipal Auditorium will also be closed to walkers on the aforementioned day. Trash collection schedule will not be interrupted. Normal operating hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Currently, Entergy has reported that residents near Nicholls State University may be experiencing a power outage due to a burnt jumper. Entergy is on scene and reports that about 365 customers are without power. The estimated restoration time is 4:00 PM.
