Our Tax & License Office provides individuals and businesses with information on City occupational licenses, property taxes, special event permits and other requirements for operation of a business within the City of Thibodaux.
Office Hours: Monday thru Friday 8:00AM – 4:30 PM. Payments received after 4:00 PM are posted the next business day.

The City of Thibodaux is committed to encouraging, supporting, and assisting new business development within the City. Business development provides a major contribution to our economic growth. All businesses operating within the City limits of Thibodaux are required to obtain an Occupational License.

City of Thibodaux property tax bills are mailed to the owner on record by December 1st of each year. Taxes are due by December 31st and become delinquent January 1st. By law, interest must be paid on delinquent taxes at a rate of 1% per month or any part of a month thereof.
Homeowners with mortgages are advised to check with their mortgage companies before remitting payment to the City. Reverse side of tax bills will note if your mortgage company has requested a copy of your tax assessment for the current year.
For any property that is sold in a year, the owner on record at the beginning of that year may receive the tax notice. Sometimes the tax is prorated at the sale, and it is the responsibility of the new property owner to see that all taxes due on the property are paid.
Visa and MasterCard are now being accepted in addition to cash, check, and money orders for property tax payments. Please do not include any other monies owed to the City with tax payment.

Special Event permits are required for events held on Public property within the City of Thibodaux. Can Shakes, Fairs, Festivals, Parades, Walks/Runs, Road Blocks, etc. are all events that require a Special Event Permit.
* For events held at any of the City Parks, permit information will be given to you when you place your deposit and sign your rental agreement.
