The City of Thibodaux will continue to serve as a hub to all seven Bayou and River Parishes in our region. With the approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Thibodaux Municipal Airport’s runways will be closed effective Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 5:00 PM to all aircrafts for 60 days with the possibility of an extension based on the state of the recovery.

The TVFD continues responding to a high call volume of Carbon Monoxide alarms. These alarms include both portable generators and whole home (standby) generators. Below are basic safety tips.
-ensure that your generator is well ventilated. (many whole home generators are not properly ventilated, any barriers used should be fire/heat proof)
-turn generator off and let it cool before refueling or maintenance work is performed
-while performing maintenance or letting your generator rest, open the doors and windows of the building to ventilate interior of the structure
-equip your home with a properly functioning carbon monoxide detector
-if your alarm activates, evacuate the building immediately and contact 911
-if you are using a portable generator to “backfeed” your home, ensure that your main breaker is turned off for the safety of the linemen repairing our lines. This applies to buildings without automatic transfer switches

The City of Thibodaux would like to thank both Commissioner Jay Dardenne and Commissioner Mike Strain for their initiative to supply essential employees in our community with fuel for their cars and generators. At this time, the initial delivery of fuel has run out at the City of Thibodaux’s Public Works Barn and there are no more deliveries planned to be scheduled in the future. The City of Thibodaux would like to thank our partners at Chevron for their donation that helped approximately 451 essential employees receive 8,787 gallons of fuel. Now that many of the fuel stations in Thibodaux are opening back up, we believe areas in South Lafourche would better benefit from an Emergency Response Fuel Point. The City of Thibodaux is committed to working with the Commissioners to get this set up for South Lafourche as soon as possible.
