To all our Section 8 Tenants and Section 8 Landlords:
The City of Thibodaux has experienced devastating impacts from Hurricane Ida. We know that many Section 8 tenants have experienced extensive damage. Current Section 8 tenants, Section 8 landlords and Section 8 voucher holders who are able to do so please contact the Section 8 office via email at CDBG@Ci.thibodaux.la.us with their tenant name, unit address, phone number and condition of home. We need to know if your home is habitable and an update on if you are displaced. At this time, there is a shelter open in Assumption Parish at the 4910 Hwy 308 for immediate needs. We will request a waiver and allow portability to other areas. If you chose to utilize portability, please include the housing authority’s name, address, phone number and PHA number to where you wish for your papers to be sent. Please be patient.

A burn ban is currently in effect for Thibodaux and the surrounding areas.
Please ensure that your generator (both portable and whole-home units) is properly ventilated. The
Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department has been experiencing a high call volume of carbon monoxide alarms. Everyone is cautioned to trust their home alarms. If the alarm activates, evacuate the building, and contact our department to come out and test for the presence of carbon monoxide.
There is a Point of Distribution (POD) center at Thibodaux Family Church (785 N. Canal Blvd Thibodaux, La 70301). Food, water, and ice is being distributed from 8AM to 5PM while supplies last.
Regularly scheduled trash pickup is scheduled to resume today (9/2/21) with limited service. This is the blue Pelican waste bins and should NOT include storm debris.
Storm debris is scheduled to begin Sunday (9/5/21). Avoid placing storm debris under overhead obstructions such as utility lines and streetlights. Debris should be separated into the following three separate piles to improve the debris removal efficiency.
1) Construction Materials (roofing, sheetrock, wood with nails, screws, brackets, etc.
2) Vegetation/Trees (tree limbs, branches, shrubs, bare wood, leaves). Avoid the usage of plastic trash bags.
3) White Goods/Appliances (refrigerators, freezers, AC units, dishwashers, etc.)
Please remain off the roadways if possible. The influx of traffic will continue to cause delays for emergency response vehicles, utility repair contractors, and supplies transporters. View MoreCity Council Meeting Notice
