City of Thibodaux – Hurricane Ida Response Information
September 3, 2021 – 4:00 PM
Regularly scheduled trash pick-up will continue with limited service. This is the blue Pelican waste bins and should NOT include storm debris.
Hurricane debris pick-up will begin Sunday, September 5th and will start with Zones 1 and 5 due to the fact that there are no overhead power lines in these zones (Please see the debris map below). Avoid placing storm debris under overhead obstructions such as utility lines and streetlights. Debris should be separated into the following three separate piles to improve the debris removal efficiency.
1) Construction Materials (roofing, sheetrock, wood with nails, screws, brackets, etc.
2) Vegetation/Trees (tree limbs, branches, shrubs, bare wood, leaves). Avoid the usage of plastic trash bags.
3) White Goods/Appliances (refrigerators, freezers, AC units, dishwashers, etc.)
Please ensure when using a generator (both portable and whole-home units) to purchase and install and carbon monoxide detector. Everyone is cautioned to trust these home alarms. If the alarm activates, evacuate the building, and contact the Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department to come out and test for the presence of carbon monoxide.Anyone looking to make donations, such as cooking meals to be placed in closed containers and commodities for volunteers at POD locations, please contact Jacques Thibodeaux, City of Thibodaux, at 504-915-3120.
