As the City of Thibodaux’s storm debris collection contractor continues to make progress daily on picking up debris throughout the City, we would like to update residents on leftover debris that has not yet been collected. Please rest assured that the contractor is working diligently to remove the debris in a timely manner and will not leave before all storm debris is picked up. Any debris (construction or vegetative) that has been placed in bags will be picked up after all the separated debris has been collected and will be brought to the C & D (Construction & Debris) site for disposal.

Attachment: Hurricane Ida - Storm Debris Sites
The City’s storm debris contractor continues making progress. At this time, it is estimated that 85,000-95,000 cubic yards of vegetation and 9,000-10,000 cubic yards of construction debris have been picked up throughout the City to date. This debris is being hauled to local sites for further processing. The contractor will utilize appropriate equipment for areas with narrow streets and/or low utility lines. Please be mindful that debris should be separated into 3 piles.
1) Construction Materials/C&D (roofing, sheetrock, wood with nails, screws, brackets, etc.
2) Vegetation/Trees (tree limbs, branches, shrubs, bare lumber, leaves). Avoid the usage of plastic trash bags.
3) White Goods/Appliances (refrigerators, freezers, AC units, dishwashers, etc.)
Residents are asked to NOT place green waste (vegetation/leaves/trees) in bags because the debris clean-up crews will not pick it up if they don’t know what it is.
Please keep in mind that individual trucks are assigned to specific debris types, therefore, residents can expect to see their vegetative debris and construction debris to be picked up at different times.
While not every household has been picked up, we would like to assure residents that the contractor is working diligently to remove the debris in a timely manner and will not leave before all storm debris is picked up. View MoreCity of Thibodaux - Temporary Garbage Collection Schedule

Effective this Monday, September 20th, Pelican Waste will implement a temporary garbage collection schedule for residents of the City of Thibodaux. This schedule of collection will be employed for the next two weeks to allow our contractor to provide collection of household waste once per week for all residents. Due to the challenges faced relative to excessive volume and landfill wait times it is necessary to temporarily reduce collections to once per week so that we do not fall behind on serving all citizens as was the case the past two weeks.
Those residents who are on the Monday/Thursday collection route will be serviced on either Monday or Tuesday. Please place your carts curbside Monday morning.
Those residents who are on the Tuesday/Friday collection route will be serviced on either Wednesday or Thursday. Please place your carts curbside Wednesday morning.
Those residents who are on the Wednesday/Saturday collection route will be serviced on either Friday or Saturday. Please place your carts curbside Friday morning.
We anticipate that we will be able to return to our normal twice-per-week routes by the first week in October.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and patience as we navigate through this recovery process. View More
