TS Marco and TS Laura continue to move towards land within 40 hours of each other. TS Marco will reach land in the next 12 hours and will arrive mainly as a wind event. Based on the nature of this storm it will continue to move West along Louisiana and decrease in strength. TS Laura has the potential to reach hurricane status and will arrive at landfall Wednesday during the day. TS Laura is moving very fast at 21 mph and continues to track towards the North to Northwest. Residents, businesses, and organizations should continue to monitor the City website for updates. As of now, City workers are focused on protective measures for both of these storms. City buildings will remain closed from Monday at 10:00 am through Tuesday. For future updates, continue to check the City of Thibodaux website.

The City of Thibodaux is currently preparing for two active tropical storms, TS Marco and TS Laura. Both of these storms have the potential to reach hurricane status. In the past 24 hours, TS Marco has strengthened and shifted to the East. TS Laura is approximately 30 hours behind TS Marco. The Mayor activated the City of Thibodaux Unified Command Group (UCG). The UCG will meet throughout the response for both storms.
On Monday, August 24th, City buildings as well as Utility Collections will close at 10 AM with essential workers focusing on protective measures and response. All other City workers will work remotely. The City currently has a self-sandbagging set up at the City Public Works Barn, which is located at 1219 Henry S Thibodaux Street in Thibodaux. If you or someone you know is disabled or elderly and is unable to get sandbags, please contact the Public Works Department at 985-446-7223 to have some delivered. Garbage collection will run as scheduled Monday morning. Please set out garbage cans tonight, because the garbage trucks will be running early Monday morning. Also, please make sure to pick up cans as soon as possible Monday to prevent them from blowing away during the storm. The Thibodaux Police Department would like to remind the community to remain off the roads if at all possible during these storms to prevent accidents.
Residents are reminded to have a plan and follow the efforts of the parish and city. For the most accurate information please refer to the City of Thibodaux website.
