Unauthorized Dumping

Mayor Tommy Eschete wishes to remind city residents that unauthorized dumping of any kind on any public or private property is a violation of Section 10-6 of our City Code of Ordinances and anyone caught doing so could be fined up to $500 for each violation.

There are numerous properties that were formally condemned even prior to Hurricane Ida which are currently under demolition along with properties being repaired or remodeled.

The owners of these properties are required by law to obtain bulk containers to dispose of these demolition materials. These materials are not required to be collected by our solid waste contractor. In addition, they cannot be dumped curbside due to the hazards it will cause their neighbors and vehicular traffic. Our building inspections department will be observing our neighborhoods and encourage you to call them at (985)446-7223 to report any illegal dumping activities.

City of Thibodaux - Vehicles Blocking Meters

The City of Thibodaux’s Public Works Department kindly asks residents to refrain from parking their vehicles in a manner that would block or cover their water and natural gas meters. City meter readers have been unable to read some meters due to vehicles blocking them. This could result in numerous utility billing issues. Unfortunately, if this continues to be an issue, vehicles may be towed at the owner’s expense to acquire access to the obstructed meters.

The City of Thibodaux is sponsoring a household hazardous waste collection day.  It will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, from 8:00 AM to Noon at the Harang Auditorium, which is located at 310 North Canal Boulevard in Thibodaux.
