Louisiana to expand COVID-19 vaccine eligibility

The State of Louisiana is expanding COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to all individuals aged 18 and up (or 16 and up for Pfizer product), effective Monday, March 29, 2021. This expansion of eligibility to all individuals meeting the vaccine’s minimum age requirements will supersede all other eligibility classifications and requirements, including the need to provide any documentation or self-attestation demonstrating employment or medical eligibility. Any self-attestation forms required to be collected prior to March 29th must still be kept on record by the vaccine provider for six months, following guidance for PHI records. These forms may be stored electronically to meet this requirement. COVID-19 vaccine providers are encouraged to begin taking appointments now, in advance, for individuals wishing to become vaccinated under the expanded eligibility criteria starting March 29th.

Walmart would like to inform the community that they are offering COVID-19 vaccine appointments for educators, teachers, school staff, and licensed child care employees. Appointments are available this weekend and next weekend at local Walmart pharmacies. Eligible persons can call 1-833-886-0023 to schedule an appointment. These appointments are also available to eligible household members. On the day of your appointment, please bring your ID, proof of vaccine eligibility if applicable, and insurance card (red, white, and blue card if over 65) if you have one. Please plan to stay on-site for at least 15 minutes after your shot while we monitor you for an allergic reaction.

Mayor Tommy Eschete has been advised by Kevin Clement, our Parks & Recreation Director, that a new soccer-themed playground has been installed and is ready for children to enjoy at the Eric Andolsek Memorial Park. This park, located at 1200 North Canal Boulevard, facilitates our local youth soccer programs which are facilitated by the Thibodaux Soccer Association. The new equipment will enhance the park experience and provide a new activity for our young visitors. This will certainly accomplish the City’s goals to make all of our recreational infrastructure extremely family-friendly.
