The Thibodaux Police Department would like to advise residents and motorists of ongoing construction at the intersection of Percy Brown Road and North/South Acadia Road.
As part of this project, the South Acadia Road turning lane will be closed effective immediately, with the North Acadia Road turning lane expected to close in the coming days.
This project is part of a collaborative traffic safety initiative between the City of Thibodaux - Municipal Government and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) aimed at improving traffic safety in the area. Upon completion, both turning lanes will be permanently closed.
Please note that this project is separate from, and not associated with, the future roundabout construction planned for this intersection. The current improvements are an independent safety initiative and should not be confused with the upcoming roundabout project.
Once construction is complete, a detailed diagram outlining the changes to the intersection and updated traffic patterns will be released to help motorists better understand the new roadway configuration.
We ask all motorists to remain attentive, use caution when traveling through the construction area, and obey all posted traffic signs and temporary traffic controls.
The Thibodaux Police Department appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as these improvements are made to enhance roadway safety for our community.
