The City of Thibodaux would like to apologize to some
residents for the number of National Weather Service heat advisory alert
messages this past weekend. In the aftermath of Hurricane Ida the City of
Thibodaux reviewed all aspects of the response/recovery and determined a need
to implement a disaster notification system. As part of that process, the
City subscribes to the National Weather Service through the FEMA Integrated
Public Alert Warning System. The City put several parameters in place to
deliver the federal automated messages to employees and citizens. Several
parameters were not followed and some residents received phone calls and text
messages in the early morning hours. The City is working with our disaster
notification contractor to ensure protocols are followed. We apologize
for any inconvenience to our residents, businesses and organizations.
