- Mask Mandate Information:
o
Mask mandate
requires all passengers and operators of public conveyances to wear a mask,
including on airplanes, ships, ferries, trains, taxis, rideshares, and in the
corresponding transportation hubs.
o
All Offices of the
State of Louisiana in the executive branch require a mask by employees and
patrons. The only agencies allowed to disregard the mask mandate are the
Louisiana Legislative and Judicial Branches. They must do so in a formal
letter to the LDH Secretary.
o
All early
childhood, elementary, secondary, and post-secondary educational institutions
still require mask usage for students, employees, and visitors.
o
All local governing
authorities and operators of private businesses have the authority to issue
mask mandate measures. By the intent of parishes through their
declarations, the Parish Presidents are using La. Revised Code 29:727- Powers
of a Parish President to take control of the mask mandate in their respective
parishes. The Mayor has the authority to lift the mask mandate based on
La. Revised Statute 29:737 in following suit of Lafourche Parish President
Chaisson declaration to lift the mask mandate.
