Notice for Assessment for Tax Year 2020

Mayor Tommy Eschete and the City Council have received many
inquiries relative to the “Notice for Assessment for Tax Year 2020” sent to
resident property owners concerning the reassessment of their property and the
estimated new taxes for the year 2020. Many
of our residents are concerned about the significant increases being estimated
in the notice. These new taxes will be due by December 31, 2020.
Although your City property taxes may have increased along
with the Parish property taxes, the City millage rates have not increased and
any increase can be attributed to the reassessment of your property value by
the Lafourche Parish Assessor’s Office.
Please be advised that the City does not conduct the
reassessment nor do we set the new values assigned for your property. If you are interested in accessing
information as to how your new property values were assigned, as per the
notice, you can contact the Lafourche Parish Assessor’s Office at
