Lead is a highly toxic metal that may cause a range of health problems, especially in young children. When lead is absorbed into the body, it can cause damage to the brain and other vital organs.

It can lead to behavioral problems, learning disabilities, seizures, and in extreme cases, death. Some symptoms of lead poisoning may include headaches, stomach aches, nausea, tiredness, and irritability. Children who are lead poisoned may show no symptoms.

Deteriorated lead-paint mixes with household dust and soil and becomes tracked in. It is important to repair both outside and inside deteriorated paint.

The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) provides protections for victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking. VAWA protections are not only available to women, but are available equally to all individuals regardless of sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

The owner/manager should reaffirm with their tenants, at move in and recertification, the importance of calling 911 if they feel they are in immediate danger.

Victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking can call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).
