SENIOR MAYOR FOR A DAY: Our April Senior Mayor for a Day is Mr. Jake Haydel, nominated by Thibodaux City Councilman Chad Mire. Mr. Jake Haydel is 75 years old. He was born in Schriever, but moved to Thibodaux after he was married. Honorary Mayor Haydel worked 25 years for Pipeline Construction Company, and five years as a Custodian at West Thibodaux Junior High School. Mr. Haydel retired in 1994. He enjoys watching LSU games. Mr. Haydel is married to the former Joyce Kraemer. They have three children together, (one daughter and two sons), a total of eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Honorary Mayor Haydel stated, “I enjoyed the day, I learned about all the different departments and their functions. Everything was very impressive.”

Let's Get Ready for Ball! The Parks Department is currently renovating the front fields at Peltier Park in preparation for the upcoming Baseball season!
Field work is also being done on the fields at MLK Park and the Civic Center Park.
MARTIN LUTHER KING PARK GETS NEW PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT: The City of Thibodaux is proud to announce that the ADA playground equipment at MLK Park is finished! The playground equipment will allow children with disabilities to interact in an environment with other children. The equipment is in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Parks Director Cindy Griffin stated, “ I am excited that this playground equipment is going to provide many children in the area with the opportunity to experience something new at MLK Park." Mayor Caillouet stated, “ The new equipment will tie into the existing half mile walking path as part of our continued development for this park.”
