IT'S BACK!!!   The Thibodaux Main Street Farmer's Market will open its Spring season on Saturday, April 3, 2004.  The market will be opened every Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and is located on LA 1 and Maronge Street.  
NEW TO THE MARKET:  strawberries, wines, mushrooms, stuffed breads and woven baskets.  
RETURNING TO THE MARKET:  produce, jams, jellies, baked goods and pies, cut flowers, plants, seafood, soaps, candles and more!

Our March Senior Mayor for a Day is Mr. Herbert Toups; Nominated by the the Knights of Columbus:  Honorary Mayor Toups was in the public education system for 32 years, and spent 10 years at St. Joseph.  He has been everything from a supervisor transportation, coach, teacher, assistant principal, and principal.  He's married to Rose Lee Toups and has 5 boys and 10 grandchildren.  Mayor Toups has enjoyed his 10 years of retirement by traveling with his wife and being quite close with the Catholic Church.  

On Tuesday, March 16, Mayor Charles Caillouet, the Thibodaux City Council, City administration and staff honored the first Senior Mayors who participated in our Senior Mayor for a Day program.  The program helps encourage positive communication between our city’s senior residents and the City of Thibodaux’s leadership team.  Mayor Caillouet stated, "The program has proved to be very successful and we just wanted to thank all those who participated."

ART'S ALIVE!  On Thursday, April 15, Thibodaux Main Street in conjunction with Nicholls Jubilee and the Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce will feature "Art's Alive," an art show and reception with local artists and musicians.  Chamber After Hours Business Card Exchange cosponsored by Shaver Robichaux Insurance and the Lorio Foundation.  507 West Third Street from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  The artists will display and sell their work outside in the downtown area.  For more information contact Kristin Batulis at 448-5852.

House of Prayer UPC is presenting "His Offer Still Stands", an Easter Drama reenacting Christ's life, ministry, and death through dialog, singing, and music. Performance dates are Wednesday thru Friday April 7,8,9 @7:30PM, Saturday April 10 @ 1:PM and 7:30PM, and Sunday April 11 @ 6:PM. Call 446-2620 for information and tickets. Thibodaux Parks Department is now accepting applications for summer employment. This is for the positions of Groundskeeper.  Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and be responsible. Applications accepted at the Parks office in Peltier Park Recreation Center (Mon. - Fri. 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.) until April 23, 2004.

Bayou Area Habitat for Humanity is looking for additional skilled residential construction volunteers and skilled construction workers who would be willing to be team leaders.  If you are interested in assisting our Community with Habitat's Mission of putting families in simple, decent affordable housing, please give the Habitat office a call at 447-6999

If you are 55 years plus you qualify to take classes at Nicholls State University through Generations Teaching Generations. An example of some of the classes are: Gardening, Computer, GED Preparation, Bible Study, Music, Exercise, Cooking, Woodworking, Quilting, Painting, and much more. These two-hour-long classes will be scheduled one day per week and will be offered from 9-11 A.M. or 1-3 P.M. The sessions will continue from four to ten weeks and the fees will vary depending on class topic and supplies required. Please Call Vanessa Adams Wilson at 985.449.7036 for more information.

Thibodaux Recreation Department is now accepting applications for summer employment for the T.R.D. 2004 Summer Programs.  Positions available are: Scorekeepers & Umpires; Arts & Crafts Workers; Camp Counselors; and Lifeguards (Red Cross Certified.)  Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and be responsible.  Applications accepted at the office in Peltier Parke Recreation Center (Mon. - Fri. 8:00 a.m. - NOON & 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.) until April 23, 2004.
Other positions available: Aerobic Instructor; Camp Director; and Municipal Pool Director.
