THANKS

 September 11, 2003
First United Methodist Church
Thibodaux, La.

On Thursday, September 11, 2003, the members of the United Methodist Women held a heroes celebration to honor all of the 911 victims, members of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office, Thibodaux Police Department and Thibodaux Fire Department.  Chief Robertson stated, “It was the most wonderful and sincere event that I’ve been to since I’ve been here in Thibodaux.”  Each lady cooked their special dish, which was prepared from their hearts, and treated the public servants to a wonderful meal.  “We were so appreciative of the food,” Chief Robertson noted, “I ate until I couldn’t eat anymore!”  Members of the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts presented the Colors, prayers were said in honor of fallen heroes, and then the fellowship sang songs to display their patriotism.  Ms. Sarah Timberlake, the UMW President, presented recognition awards to the Police and Fire Departments.

Chief Robertson concluded by saying that the spirit of our community is so honest, sincere and great and that the City of Thibodaux is truly the “City of Choice” because the members of this Fellowship are from various parts of the country, but they choose to live in Thibodaux.  Chief Robertson stated that it is an honor to serve this Fellowship, and the members represent the pride and dedication to serving others, which is the reason Thibodaux is such a great city.

WOW!! KEY EMPLOYEES!
ANTHONY MILLER, CHRIS BERGER, AND  JODY USE'
These Public Works employees were a few vehicles behind the truck that spilled a mixture of drilling fluid and cuttings from inside an oil well onto the Canal Street Bridge Tuesday morning.  These gentlemen took immediate action to prevent the contaminated matter from entering the Bayou. They shoveled the "stuff" away from the drains and followed by clogging the drains with sandbags.  Thanks to their quick thinking, we were able to contain the spill to the bridge and avoid anything from getting into the Bayou.  The Police Department arrived shortly thereafter and did an excellent job in traffic control.

Teamwork at its best!    People First!
