Thibodaux Main Street Farmerís Market Opening Saturday

The Thibodaux Main Street Farmerís Market will open on Saturday, May 18th. The market will continue to be open each Saturday morning from 7:00 to 11:00 AM behind City Hall and onto Maronge Street. You will be able to find fresh locally grown produce along with catfish filets, crabs, cut flowers, plants, homemade soaps, homemade lemonade, baked goods and other value added items. You will be able to watch local chefs prepare taste-tempting favorites using items from the market.

More than 10 vendors will be on hand as the market opens for the second year in downtown Thibodaux. LSU AgCenter La Terre Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer any horticultural questions you may have. Come to downtown Thibodaux and support the market. Call Joyce Benoit (Thibodaux Main Street Manager) at 985-448-1474 for more information on the market and how to become a vendor.

The City of Thibodaux utility bills have a new feature. Mayor Charles Caillouet, the Finance Department and the City of Thibodaux have most recently implemented bar coding to the utility bills and statement billing.

Beginning with the May 2002 utility bills, the City of Thibodaux's Finance and Utility Department began the following:

  • Printing bar codes on utility bills representing the customers utility account numbers. The Utility Collections Department will now have the ability to read bar codes with bar code scanners upon the receipt of payment from the customer.
  • Printing post net bar codes on utility bills in order to receive the maximum postage discount from the post office.
  • Producing "group bills" for customers with multiple utility accounts. A statement type bill is produced with detailed information from each account.

All of these new features and services are a result of the new computer software installed in the Finance Department at the end of last year. "These new features will help allow the City personnel to provide more efficient and accurate service to all of our utility customers," stated Mayor Charles Caillouet.

Mayor Charles Caillouet and the City of Thibodaux would like to congratulate the Nicholls State University Spring 2002 graduates. The commencement exercises will be performed on Friday, May 17, 2002 and Saturday, May 18, 2002. Good Luck in the future!

Good luck and congratulations also to the Thibodaux High School and E.D. White High School graduates.
