WEST NILE VIRUS: Mosquito Control Inc.'s President Wayne Machado issued a verbal notice to Mayor Charles Caillouet that mosquitoes in the Schriever Area have been found which contain the West Nile Virus.No mosquitoes in Thibodaux have shown up containing the virus at this time.He added that to be on the safe side that persons outside especially at dusk or dawn should wear long sleeves and pants and repellent to further lessen the chance that they may become infected with the virus.He did stress that there were no mosquitoes captured in the Thibodaux area traps that contained the virus at this time, but precautions should be taken where possible.

THIBODAUX AREA HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: Thibodaux Area Habitat for Humanity will be having an Application Meeting on Tuesday, August 12 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Genevieve Family Center located at 807 Barbier Street in Thibodaux.An application packet can be picked up at the Habitat Home Store located at 800 Jackson Street on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.Only completed applications will be accepted at the meeting.
