Spay/Neuter Program

Spay/Neuter Program

The City of Thibodauxhas teamed up with a participating veterinarian to extend the Spay/Neuterprogram to any person adopting an animal through the Thibodaux AnimalShelter.

The City is now waiving the income limit and residentialrequirements for the Spay/Neuter Policy. Anyone who adopts an animal from the City pound will receive a $60.00voucher to pay for the spay/neuter surgery including rabies and distempervaccinations.  The adopter must complywith La. R.S. 3:2472, which requires persons to have the animal sterilized byspayed or neutered within 13 days of adoption or 13 days after the animalreaching six months old.  Limit 2 vouchersper household per calendar year.

Mayor Charles Caillouet stated, “The City encourages anyonewho adopts an animal from our shelter to have them spayed or neutered to helpcontrol the animal population in the City. Residents should also provide identification collars for their pets incase they are lost or found in the streets.”

“Within three (3) working days after the adoption, a vouchercan be picked up in my office to pay for the spay/neutering,rabies and distemper vaccination on your new pet.”

Please contact Cpl. Pablo Garcia at the Thibodaux police department at 446-5021during regular business hours to adopt a pet.
