Over the weekend, during the late evening hours of Saturday, September 24, 2005, the Thibodaux Police Department received several complaints of a disturbance at the corner of Singleton Street at Coulon Road in the North Thibodaux area. The complainant told police that there was a large fight and that there were two subjects with guns.
When Thibodaux Officers arrived, contact was made with Todd Tabor. Tabor told police that his friend, Brandon Guidry, was involved in an altercation with Cody Dantin. After the altercation, Dantin climbed into a vehicle and attempted to drive off striking Guidry’s right arm with the vehicle’s side mirror. Afterward, Dantin stopped the vehicle and advised loudly that he had a gun and that he was going to shoot everyone that was outside followed by him driving off.
While Thibodaux Officers gathered information from all parties involved, Dantin telephoned Monique Hebert’s residence and was overheard saying that he was back in-route to Singleton Street to shoot everyone.
Shortly after, Thibodaux Police located Dantin and conducted a traffic stop. Located in the passenger seat area of Dantin’s vehicle was a 12-gauge shotgun. A closer examination of the weapon revealed that the chamber was loaded. Dantin was placed under arrest and transported to the Thibodaux Police Department.
Thibodaux Police later learned from witnesses on Singleton Street that Tabor had exited from his residence with a shotgun in hand. Tabor along with his shotgun were taken into custody and were transported to the Thibodaux Police Department.
Tabor was issued a Misdemeanor Summons and released, while Dantin was booked and later transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center. Both shotguns remain in the custody of the Thibodaux Police Department.
