Alleged rape on Church Street

 

The Thibodaux Police Department reports that they arecurrently investigating an alleged rape that occurred in the afternoon hours ofSeptember 9th

At approximately 4:17 P.M. officers were summoned to thearea of Church Street where a fifteen-year-old female reported that she had beensexually assaulted.  This victimgave officers a description of her assailant as being a black male approximately19 years of age.  She also describedhim as being 5’8” tall wearing, at the time, black shorts, long white“tee” shirt and riding a black bicycle. 

Several officers made immediate searches of the area wherethe rape was reported to have occurred.  Suspectsmatching the description as well as possible witnesses were brought to thepolice station for questioning throughout the remainder of the afternoon andnight. 

The victim along with her mother, were brought to theThibodaux Regional Medical Center where a normal sexual assault examination wasperformed. 

The Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division,in charge of the investigation, has learned that the victim was attacked andforced to perform sexual acts against her will.  Although the victim did not know her attackers name, sheadvised that has seen him before and can recognize him through either liveline-up or a photograph.
