Two Juveniles Arrested for Armed Robbery

The Thibodaux Police Department announces the arrest of twojuvenile male subjects the night of January 11, 2004, on the charge of armedrobbery.  The male juveniles, ages14 and 15 years-of-age, were both from Thibodaux. 

At approximately 8 P.M., January 11, 2004, the ThibodauxPolice Department received a call from a male who advised that he was a victimof an armed robbery that had just occurred on Cleveland Street near“Bob’s” bar, formerly known as the “Golden Terrace”. 

The victim told responding Police Officers that he wasapproached by two young black males who showed a black gun and demanded moneyand his keys.  The victim advisedthat he feared for his life and surrendered his wallet, keys, cigarettes andlighter.  The wallet containedvarious papers, a bankcard and his identification. The victim advised that the two young subjects, described as 5’9” –6’0” tall, wearing dark colored hooded jackets and blue jeans, fled south onSt. Charles Street. 

The on-call Detective, Matt Chiasson, was called to thescene to gather evidence and any information relating to the robbery. Detective Chiasson spoke to several people that were witnesses to therobbery or that observed the two juveniles running south on St. Charles Street. Several of these witnesses gave the Detective the names of theindividuals they observed committing the robbery or witnessed running shortlyafter the robbery took place. 

The subjects that were named were questioned, in thepresence of their parents, at the Police Station.  Following this questioning, each juvenile was charged withthe armed robbery, and were booked as juveniles. Both subjects were transported to the Lafourche Juvenile Detention Centerwhere they await a juvenile hearing. 

Following the arrest of the juveniles, DetectiveChiasson, acting on information gained in the investigation, located a“Crossman” brand BB gun, modeled after a semi-automatic handgun, in a grassyarea on St. Charles Street.  Witnesseswho observed one of the juveniles throw something following the robbery pointedout this grassy area to the Detective.
