During the late evening hours of January 6, 2003 officers of the Thibodaux Police Department responded to the Downtown Area of Thibodaux in reference to someone breaking the headlights of vehicles parked along the bayou side with a baseball bat.
Officers arrived and with the help of witnesses quickly located the suspect, identified as Ralph J. Clement Age 27 of 2412 West Camelia Drive in Thibodaux, LA, who admitted to the crime. Witnesses also pointed out Mr. Clement’s cousin, identified as Kodey C. Whatley Age 23 of 116 Landry Lane on Thibodaux, LA, as also committing the crime. Both were then brought to Thibodaux Police Department.
During the course of the investigation, officers discovered that a total of eight vehicles were damaged.
Mr. Clement was booked for eight counts of Criminal Damage to Property, Possession of Marijuana, and Criminal Mischief.
Mr. Whately was booked with eight counts of Criminal Damage to Property. Both were transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center to await a bond to be set.
