TheThibodaux Police Department was the point of interest for “The LittleSchool” Preschoolers on March 6th and 7th.Detective Greg Navarre, Detective Laura Guise and Officer Todd Gagnardgave the preschoolers a complete tour of the police headquarters and a lesson onthe history of the Thibodaux Police Department. The one hour tours consisted ofabout thirty-six 4 year old students each day.The students also got the opportunity to check out all of the policegear, patrol cars, SERT van (Special Enforcement Response Team) and Light truck.After a speech on the usage of 911 emergency calls the preschoolers tookpictures inside the department and received treats from the Officers. On March 6, 2002, Detective Sandra Brooks took part in the RIF program atthe Thibodaux Elementary School, by reading the book “Play Ball, AmeliaBedelia” to a second grade class. Detective Brooks states “ I enjoyedreading this humorous story to the class. I learned from the students that theAmelia Bedelia stories happen to be one of their favorite books.” The studentsloved it. I encourage others to take advantage by devoting a few minutes oftheir time to reading to a class during March RIF month.
