 OFFICERWITNESS FIGHT WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT

     While stationed at a red light, a Thibodaux Police Officer observed afight in progress in the Normís Daiquiris parking lot. The officer reportedly observed a suspect, who was later identified asBen Benson, 19, of 321 West 6th St. run across the parking lot andstrike 40 year old Raymond Victor in the face with a closed fist, knocking himunconscious. After striking Victor, Benson reportedly tried to run from thescene.  As the officer entered theparking lot, he then reportedly observed Ceasar Gray, 27, of 200 Winder Rd. runtoward Benson and punched him in the face. The officer immediately rendered first aide to Victor as he laid on theground unconscious and bleeding profusely from the nose and mouth. Other responding officers took both Benson and Gray into custody while onthe scene and transported them to the Thibodaux Police Department for booking.

 

Benson was charged with one count Second Degree Battery andreleased on a $1,500. 00 bond. Gray was issued a misdemeanor summons for onecount of Simple Battery and released. Victor, who reportedly suffered aconcussion and several contusions as a result of the incident was taken to theThibodaux Regional Medical Center by Acadian Ambulance. Victor was treated andreleased.

 

     Officerslearned that the attack reportedly stemmed from an earlier altercation betweenBenson and Victor while shooting pool inside of the daiquiris shop and thencontinued while outside of the establishment. There were no other reportedinjuries as a result of this incident.
