Entrepreneurial Training Series to Support Local Business Growth

The Nicholls Small Business Development Center, in cooperation with the South Louisiana Economic Council, Louisiana Economic Development and with the support of Nicholls State University, BellSouth and MidSouth Bank, will be conducting a comprehensive training series for entrepreneurs and small businesses from Assumption, Lafourche, St. Mary and Terrebonne Parishes.  The series begins Tuesday, September 16 in room 152 of the Betsy Cheramie Ayo Building at Nicholls State University.  The Entrepreneur Training Series will provide an intensive, hand-on 10-weeki overview of entrepreneurship, business structures and risk, automating your business, accounting, cash flow, financing, marketing, selling and human resources.  The series will conclude with a graduation on November 18.

The series is open to any resident of Assumption, Lafourche, St. Mary or Terrebonne Parishes.  All sessions meet for 2 ˝ hours.

The classes are designed to be taken as a comprehensive 10-week program and will run on a perpetual cycle 3 times each year to allow new participants to join any sessions without having to wait for the start of a new series.  Registration for individual classes will be permitted based on availability, although the best results are achieved by enrolling in the entire series.  Tuition for the complete program is $800 for the 10-week series or $80 per class.

Tuition assistance may be available through the Louisiana Department of Economic Development Small and Emerging Business Program Contact Deanna Duet at the South Louisiana Economic Council at 985-448-4485 for details.
The series is modeled after similar programs already underway in other parts of the state that have shown positive results in growth of new local businesses.
For other information about the Entrepreneurial Training Series contact Deanna Duet at SLEC at 985-448-4485 or Charles Gaiennie, Training Series Director, at 985-879-1771 or by email at cgaiennie@triparish.net
