New Equipment in Peltier Park
Thibodaux Parks and RecreationDepartment has a new piece of equipment for Peltier Park. LARC applied for a grant through the Lorio Foundation of a total of$116,216. The equipment has7-stations and is 85 ft X 85 ft. Theplayground set is equipped for children with disabilities. It includes equipment such as ramps connecting from each station, slidesand a foam rubber landing. Theequipment is the only one in Louisiana of this size. Mayor Charles Caillouet stated, “With the new equipment, children withdisabilities will be able to enjoy a more comfortable and safe time at thepark.” The manufacturer “Game Time” is deliveringthis piece of equipment on Wednesday, March 6, 2002. The completion date is scheduled for Monday, April 1, 2002.
PARD Summer Programs
Thibodaux Parks and Recreation is about to begin its summer programs, andregistration begins as early as Saturday, March 16. Recreation director Ralph “Rabbit” Landry stated that there would beabsolutely no late registration. Summerprograms include baseball/softball leagues, arts & crafts classes, swimminglessons and charcoal and oil painting. Childrenof all ages and from surrounding areas are encouraged to participate in theprograms. Additional camps will be added.
