ORDINANCE TO INCREASE THE ANNUAL COMPENSATION
OF THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF THIBODAUX

       

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Thibodaux in regular session assembled, that:

WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of Article III, Section 5 of the Home Rule Charter of the City of Thibodaux, the  annual salary of the Mayor is fixed at $65,000 per year; and

WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable to increase the salary of the Mayor because of the duties and responsibilities encumbered upon him/her; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with the aforesaid Charter provisions, the salary of the Mayor may be increased by the adoption of an appropriate ordinance prior to the last year of the current term of office.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council of the City of Thibodaux that effective with the taking of office of the candidate elected at the next Mayoralty election, the annual salary of the Mayor shall be set at $73,000.

The above ordinance having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
