OFFICIAL MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF THIBODAUX
CITY HALL
THIBODAUX, LOUISIANA
SEPTEMBER 13, 2005

The City Council of the City of Thibodaux assembled in special session at its regular meeting place, City Hall, 310 West 2nd Street, Thibodaux, Louisiana, on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at 5:00 o’clock P.M.

There were present: Councilmen Swanner, Mire and D. Richard.

Councilmen Gene Richard and Winston were absent.

There were also present: Mayor Charles Caillouet.

In accordance with the provisions of Article VI Section 1(A) of the Thibodaux Home Rule Charter, the City Council held a pre-budget conference. The Council submitted budget proposals and projects for discussion five (5) days prior to the conference.

Councilman Dee Richard went over a list of items that he would like to see incorporated into the 2006 Operating Budget:

1) Re-paving Belle Meade Boulevard once construction is completed. He would like for an estimate to be done so that he can know what it would cost to add this to the street improvement project.
2) Bayou Lane sidewalk. He would like to have a sidewalk on the residential side from Mr. Robert Riviere’s property down to the last property owner with housing.
3) Badt Street Sewer Pump Station. Money has been budgeted in the past for improvements to this pump station, and nothing has been done.
4) New decibel meter instruments. He would like to see money in the budget to purchase at least two new decibel meters to replace old meters and make sure that they are of the latest designs.

Councilman Mire went over a list of items he would like to see included in the 2006 Operating Budget:

1) Appropriations for continuing the development of Andolsek Park.
2) Appropriate funds for the installation of outfield fencing at Fields 1, 2 & 3 in Peltier Park (behind the Recreation Center).
3) Appropriations for the completion of improvements to the East Corridor project from Percy Brown Road to Cardinal Drive.

Councilman Winston submitted a list of projects that he would like to have included in the 2006 Operating Budget:

1) Appropriation of funds or personnel for the staffing of MLK Park Recreation Center.

Councilman Dee Richard stated that he does not feel that permanent fencing is needed on fields 1, 2 & 3 because other types of activities are held on those fields.

The Mayor thanked the Council for their input as to items that should be included in the budget. They will take all of these suggestions into consideration, and present the budget to the Council in November.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
