Mayor Urges Caution as Irma Approaches Caribbean Islands, Florida Peninsula
Although forecasters are currently predicting a Florida landfall for Hurricane Irma, Mayor Tommy Eschete is advising all residents refer to their own personal storm plan to make sure they are prepared SHOULD this storm enter the south central gulf.
Irma is an extremely dangerous Category 5 storm and deserves our attention. Futhermore, this storm could POSSIBLY enter the extreme southeast portion of the Gulf of Mexico as early as Sunday.
With this said, it is not too late to implement your personal storm plan if you hadnít already done so. As a reminder, we reach the peak of hurricane season on Sept. 10 with a gradual decline in the frequency of storms expected through the end of the season, which lasts through November.
Hopefully we will little to no effects from this storm event, but please stay tuned to your local TV and radio stations for regular updates on Irma so you can make your preparations accordingly.
