City Offices to Close Tomorrow, Aug. 30
All City offices will be closed tomorrow, Aug. 30, as a precautionary measure, according to Mayor Tommy Eschete.

"With our area being under a Tropical Storm watch due to Harvey and more rain in the current forecast, we have decided it would be best not to open for business on Wednesday," Eschete said. "I want to assure the residents that all our essential personnel will be continuing to work in an effort to mitigate any effects Harvey brings us, and I encourage everyone to stay weather aware for at least the next 24 hours."

Eschete wanted to remind residents that sandbags would continue to be made available for those needing them at the City’s Public Works building, 1219 Henry S. Thibodaux St. Residents must bring their own shovels to fill these bags, but the elderly or disabled may call 985-446-7223 for assistance.

Additionally, any utility payments due tomorrow won’t have to be made until City offices reopen.

Also, if you have not already signed up for the Lafourche Parish CodeRED program, please take the time to do so. This program allows citizens to sign up online to receive location based notifications by phone or text message in case of any weather emergency. The system will allow for several thousand phone calls to be made simultaneously, reducing the total time needed to contact each citizen.

Residents can register by going to the City of Thibodaux’s website at ci.thibodaux.la.us and clicking on the CodeRED link on the homepage. To enroll by phone, please call Lafourche Parish Emergency Preparedness Office at 985-532-8174.

Eschete said another Public Service Announcement will be sent out after 2 p.m. tomorrow notifying residents of whether or not City offices will be open on Thursday, Aug. 31.
