Mayor Urges Residents Take Precautions Ahead of Harvey
Due to the recent intensification of Hurricane Harvey, Mayor Tommy Eschete is advising all of our residents to make preparations for POTENTIALLY heavy rainfall beginning on Monday, Aug. 28, or Tuesday, Aug. 29 of next week.
Although at the current time it does not appear that our area will be affected by heavy wind or significant storm surge, we should all be diligent and prepared for any adverse effects this weather event could possibly present.
It will certainly help our Public Works Department if everyone can check the ditches around their homes and remove any debris or trash. In addition, we encourage you to take a few minutes and check that the catch basins near your homes are not obstructed by grass or leaves. If you are physically unable to do so, please contact public works at 985-446-7223 to report these obstructions.
Also, if you have not already signed up for the Lafourche Parish CodeRED program, please take the time to do so. This program allows citizens to sign up online to receive location based notifications by phone or text message in case of any weather emergency. The system will allow for several thousand phone calls to be made simultaneously, reducing the total time needed to contact each citizen.
Residents can register by going to the City of Thibodauxís website at ci.thibodaux.la.us and clicking on the CodeRED link on the homepage. To enroll by phone, please call Lafourche Parish Emergency Preparedness Office at 985-532-8174.
Please continue to monitor your emails for further notices from the City, and stay tuned to your favorite television and/or radio stations for future updates on Hurricane Harvey.
